The Battle of Okinawa was significant in that it served as an example of how deadly the invasion of mainland Japan would be. The Battle of Okinawa was the largest amphibious invasion of the Pacific campaign and the last major campaign of the Pacific War, which lasted from April 1 to June 22, 1945. After they realized how deadly the invasion would be for U.S troops they decided to use the Nukes.
