What was the main reason for establishing the new england colonies?

The colonies becoming independent from our then parent country was an event that was upwards of 20 years long that resulted in the Revolutionary War. One of the reasons was that Britain had just gotten out of a war and needed to pay for it, and decided that the colonists needed to pay more taxes.
