We want to bring out our Physics equations for this, and since this is a free fall equation, we can assume that the acceleration = g = 9.81 m/s^2, and assume that the initial velocity is 0. We can use the equation

[tex]v_{f}^{2} = v_{i}^{2} + 2ay[/tex]  to our advantage. If you plug in and solve arithmetically, you will get that the final velocity equals 7.92 m/s.
