If you inherit the genotype AO for blood from your parents, you have blood type A. Regarding blood types, there are three possible alleles: A, B, and O. Both alleles A and B are dominant to allele O. So, if a person has the genotype AO, allele A will mask the effect of allele O, and the person will have blood type A.
