Germany gave up its plans to invade Great Britain because it was costly, both in lives, equipment, and money, and since they couldn't even defeat the RAF (Royal air force) and gain air superiority (which was greatly needed in Operation Sea Lion(?) ), Germany gave up its plans because it just wouldn't have worked, and would have eventually ended up as a defeat for the Axis
