Any country that did not actively participate in the exploration movement could experience a decline in power and stats in the international system and an absence of goods which in turn leads to a loss of economic opportunity. Countries that participated in the exploration of new lands saw new goods and an increase in trading, specifically exporting goods to other lands, this leads to increased economic power and status within the international system.
