[tex]- \frac{1}{2} (-3y+10)[/tex] 

= 
[tex]- \frac{1}{2} (-3y) + (-\frac{1}{2})(10)[/tex]

= [tex]\frac{3}{2}y -\frac{10}{2}[/tex]

= [tex]\frac{3}{2}y -5[/tex]
