The sum of two numbers is 56. the sum of the smaller and 5 times the larger is 192. find the numbers.

Let the numbers = x,y

x+y = 56 1st eqn

x+5y = 192 2nd eqn

56-y+5y = 192

4y = 136

y = 34

substitute that in 1st eqn, x = 56-34 = 22

So, smaller number = 22 & Larger number = 34
